Births, Marriages and Deaths in Sampford Peverell

We have a number of sources for the parish births, marriages and deaths. The main source is the Parish Register, which began in 1673.  Some pages or parts of pages are hard to read, but the society has attempted to transcribe as much as possible.  The original register is held in the Devon Heritage Centre in Exeter, and the originals and alternative transcriptions of these and all Devon parish registers can be found on findmypast.co.uk by subscribers to that website.

Birth information is largely from our transcription of the parish register, but you could also deduce some birth dates and relationships from the dates and ages on gravestones and memorials listed under 'deaths'.

Marriage information is primarily from the marriages and banns listed in the parish register, but some marriages were allowed by licence rather than banns, and those between 1569 and 1762 are listed in Exeter Marriage Licences, a password-protected sub page of the Marriages section.  Information about spouses may be given on churchyard memorials too - see the 'deaths' page - and in the pages about births and deaths.

Death information is primarily from the parish register, but can also be found in the gravestone and memorial information from the various Sampford Peverell churchyards.
